The goal of Houghton Mifflin Social Studies
is the development of literate citizen-individuals with
the knowledge, skills, and civic values they need to
become active and reflective participants in the world of
the twenty-first century. This program weaves together
knowledge, skills, and citizenship to form an integrated
program. This curriculum is designed to help me
captivate, develop, question, and stretch my students. |

eighth grade, students will explore American history from
the Civil
War
to
events of the twentieth century. Our investigation of
history will be
enhanced by the study of geography, economics, current
events, and political cartoons. |
