Object:

Reading creates a foundation for success that supports students through school, their careers, and the activities of everyday life.  The Language of Literature helps to build   better readers through instruction, application, and reteaching.  This series provides high quality classic and contemporary literature selections supported by vocabulary instruction and writing skill practice. 

Grade Level Curriculum:

In the sixth grade students will investigate three diverse literary collections.  Each collection is organized around a central theme.  Each theme will be supported by a novel. 
 

  • 1st Trimester
Tests of Courage/The Cay by Theodore Taylor
  • 2nd trimester
Growth and Change/The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
  • 3rd Trimester
Wondrous Worlds/ The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
