The Student Council is
the student governing organization at Grey Nun
Academy. Students are elected to
positions by their fellow classmates in
Grades 3 - 8.
Three
representatives are elected by each homeroom
in September and officers are elected at the
first meeting from the 7th and 8th grade
representatives. Leadership skills are
emphasized as representatives hold class
meetings and bring the concerns of the
students at each grade level to our monthly
meetings. Student Council officers meet with
the administration to inform them of student
concerns and to obtain permission for all
activities.
Each year members
sponsor an upper division dance. In
addition during Grandparents' and Special
People Day held during Spirit Week, members
prepare gifts for the visitors and greet each
one as they arrive at the school.
The Student Council is
committed to fundraising and helping important
causes. Members work diligently to collect
and count funds for "Pennies for Patients"
supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and
sponsor a bake sale to help alleviate
childhood hunger in our country, among other
events. In addition, birthday and
Christmas gifts are sent to a child in the
Camden diocese each year.
In the Primary Department (grades K-2)
classmates elect representatives to their own
Student Council. They meet in the mornings on
a regular basis and plan such activities as
holiday favors for the Assisted Living
Facility on the property |
