When students attend a live performance, something magical can happen. A great story teller can recreate a time from the past that previously seemed remote. A musician with familiar songs and melodies can deliver a message and even encourage learning a new instrument.

The excitement created during a performance can fuel a child to want to read more, talk about it, and imagine the possibilities. For these reasons the Grey Nun Academy Home and School Board Association is committed to bringing professional and high caliber programs to our school. We have five unique programs offered for the 2009-2010 school year. As always, we encourage parents to attend our programs and share in the excitement and learning we have planned for our student body.

Mathematics

Imathimation
Imathimation is a unique and exciting program that encourages students to think outside the box and to use their imagination to envision all the ways in which math affects their everyday lives. Playing on ordinary situations to create extraordinary excitement, students are exposed to various real life situations to be more aware of the everyday exposure to math around them. Students explore finance and see how math can magically multiply their savings. The performer will also demonstrate how math underlies all music and student volunteers will race to create a bridge using only mathematics principles. Imathimation motivates students to see Math as an exciting part of everyday life, and in the process see the excitement inherent in using math to hone their problem solving skills.
